April in Madrid: Rooftops Worth Visiting

April in Madrid means mild weather, perfect for enjoying a drink at a rooftop bar. Here's our guide to the city's best terraces this spring.

April in Madrid: Rooftops Worth Visiting

April in Madrid is all about mild weather. It’s neither too cold nor too hot, and there’s that light breeze that makes you want to step outside, enjoy a drink in the sun, and watch the sunset from above. Few things are more enjoyable than a good rooftop in spring. Beer (or vermouth) in hand, sunglasses on, and the city at your feet. If you’re in Madrid this month, this blog is your treasure map: the best rooftops to enjoy the sunset, no pretence, just views that will leave you speechless.

🌆 AZOTEA DEL CÍRCULO DE BELLAS ARTES 🌆

A true classic. The rooftop at the Círculo de Bellas Artes is one of those places you should visit at least once. But take note: April is the perfect month to go, without the summer tourist crowds.

🔭 Views: Stunning panoramas of Gran Vía, Cibeles, and even the mountains if the sky is clear.

🍹 What to order: Vermouth, a glass of wine, or an Aperol. Timeless choices.

📍 Location: Calle Alcalá, 42.

A relatively new rooftop, just a minute from Sol, with a terrace that feels like a tropical oasis in the heart of the city. Great vibes, sofas, cushions, plants everywhere, and chill music.

🔭 Views: Over the most traditional rooftops and postcard-worthy Madrid sunsets.

🍹 What to order: Fruity cocktails, homemade lemonades, and if you’re up for it, a snack to share.

📍 Location: Calle de la Victoria, 5.

Right in the heart of Chueca, this terrace is a modern classic. It has a pool, 360º views, and a lively atmosphere throughout the afternoon. It’s popular with both locals and visitors, and April is perfect for avoiding the crowds.

🔭 Views: All of Madrid from the heart of Chueca, including the city centre’s most colourful rooftops.

🍹 What to order: Refreshing cocktails, red vermouth with soda, or a well-made gin and tonic.

📍 Location: Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, 12.

This is a classic in the La Latina neighbourhood. Its terrace is always buzzing and has that laid-back vibe that’s hard to resist. Sometimes there are DJs, there’s always a good atmosphere, and the views are postcard-worthy.

🔭 Views: Over the sloping rooftops of La Latina, with the sunset falling over San Francisco el Grande.

🍹 What to order: Mojito, a glass of cava, or a beer in the sun.

📍 Location: Plaza de la Cebada, 11.

🏙️ HOTEL RIU PLAZA ESPAÑA 🏙️

Okay, it’s pricier. And yes, it’s more touristy. But it’s also incredible. If you want to feel on top of the world and have all of Madrid under your feet, this is the place. The Sky Bar features a glass walkway that’s not for the faint-hearted.

🔭 Views: The entire city, from Casa de Campo to the Cuatro Torres.

🍹 What to order: Premium cocktails or craft beers.

📍 Location: Calle Gran Vía, 84.

It’s not technically a rooftop, but April is the perfect month to watch the sunset from here. People with music, a relaxed vibe, views over Casa de Campo, and that Madrid sky painted pink. Free, spontaneous, and 100% local.

If you’re staying in Madrid this April, you know what to do: go up, take in the view, raise a glass, and let the city melt at your feet 😉🍸
