El Retiro Park, officially known as El Buen Retiro, was established in the 17th century as part of the gardens of the Palacio del Buen Retiro (Palace of the Good Retreat), which served as a residence for Spanish royalty. Originally exclusive to the monarchy, it’s now open to everyone, welcoming both locals and visitors to enjoy its splendour. Over the years, it has witnessed major historical and cultural events and was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.

Covering over 125 hectares, El Retiro is a natural haven inviting relaxation, exercise, and exploration.
